Hi, I’m Nathan.
I’m an Instructional Coach and Learning Experience Designer. I draw on my experiences in visual design, project-based learning, and special education to craft exceptional learning experiences for students.
Here are a few samples of my work.
-
School of Thought
School of Thought is an internal podcast about teaching and learning at Zurich International School. “For teachers, by teachers,” each episode highlights voices in our community, sparking meaningful conversations on important topics.
-
STEM: From Dance
Friday hired me to develop curricular resources for NYC-based STEM From Dance. As the lead learning designer on the project, I conceptualize and create easy-to-deliver learning experiences that bring high-quality STEM and dance education to girls across the country.

In Sync: Supporting Executive Skills
This pilot curriculum combines personalized, 1:1 coaching with online learning modules to support executive skills development in high school students. These flexible lessons can be deployed in advisory programs or other small group settings.
-
X Lab
The Student Experience Lab was a student-led club at Zurich International School, where aspiring designers used focus groups, user interviews, and surveys to help teachers gain deeper insights into the usability and effectiveness of their classes.
-
Enter AI
A strategy and innovation mashup: we paired our AI policy work with a chatbot design process. What resulted is an ethical and effective framework for deploying AI, and a (growing) collection of custom GPTs for teachers at Zurich International School.
-
SEL ReDesign
Zurich International School asked me to lead a working group examining the school's approach to SEL. Guiding a 13-member team, I designed a mixed-methods research study to map existing practices, assess stakeholder perceptions, and identify actionable next steps. Here’s what we found.

Boston University School of Medicine
A few years back, I collaborated with Boston University’s Global Health Collaborative to document the organization’s transformative work across Vietnam.
-
The Center For Effective Philanthropy
The CEP provides data and creates insights to guide philanthropic funders. I worked with The CEP in 2015 to design this research report, among others, executing all visual design elements including layout, infographics, and data visualizations.

On Humility: An Essay
Pope Francis considers humility to be a “gateway to all virtues.” In this essay, I reflect on my not-so-humble 14-year-old self, and argue that educators play a critical role in modeling humility and other virtues we hope to see in our students.
